Social media for Huddersfield businesses: where to start

Huddersfield has a proud, loyal local scene, and people here like to support businesses they can see and recognise. Social media is the easiest way to be seen. Here is how to start without it taking over your week.

Start where your customers already are

Pick one or two platforms: Facebook and Instagram suit most local shops, trades and services. LinkedIn works better if you sell to other businesses. Do two well rather than five badly.

Find your local audience: Follow and engage with local groups, other Huddersfield businesses and nearby places. Being part of the conversation matters as much as posting.

Post things locals care about

Show real people and real work: Photos of your team, your premises and your finished jobs beat stock images every time.

Use the place: Mention Huddersfield, Holmfirth, Kirklees or the town centre where it fits. Tag the location so local people can find you.

Share the useful stuff: Opening hours, offers, seasonal tips and answers to the questions customers keep asking.

Turn followers into customers

Make the next step obvious: Every post should make it easy to call, book or message. Put the link in your bio and keep it up to date.

Reply quickly: A fast, friendly answer to a comment or message is often what wins the job.

Be consistent: Two or three good posts a week, planned in advance, will do more than a burst of daily posts that fizzles out.

We are based in Holmfirth and help local businesses plan and run their social media. Say hello and we will take a look at yours, no strings attached.
